Once an area of interest has been identified the next step is to determine if the ground is open to staking. The involves determining if the property is open to staking and determining whether or not if it has already been staked. Create Location Notices for Posting on Claim Corners<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A Notice of Location and\/or a Certificate of Location is required to be posted on a claim corner or on a discovery monument, depending on the State. Create Claim Maps for use in the Field and for Filing<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Claim maps are an important part of the claim staking process. The BLM requires a claim map when filing new claims. The claims stakers in the field use the maps to find corners and establish access. Each corner corresponds with a gps waypoint insuring accuracy and position. <\/p>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Once a map has been created a gpx file is created with the coordinates of each claim corner. The first step is staking the claim on the ground is to post a Notice of Location on the ground in complaince with the laws of the State where it is being staked. We place the notices in a water tight cansister that is attached to a cliam post. <\/p>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Once the Notice of Location has been posted. Posts are placed on each corner of the claim identifying the claim name and corner number.
